This year was a good year for the State Fair of Texas. The State Fair of Texas is the largest state fair in the United States. The State Fair has the traditional rides and good food, and lastly the centerpiece is around the annual College Football games such as OU VS Texas and Grambling State VS Prairie View University. The State Fair Showdown game between Southern and Texas Southern University, was started by Lone Star Sports in 2018. This was a combined effort with the City of Dallas. The game is held the last weekend of the State Fair. Southern University enters the games with a 3-3 record in the SWAC West Conference to battle against the 0-6 Texas Southern for a great game day. Texas Southern held Southern university in first half to a tied score of 7 and 7 in the first half. Southern University did not score again till the 3rd Quarter. Texas Southern started making a comeback in the 4th Quarter, with 14 points, and almost tied the game, a late fumble by Donnie Corley cost them the chance to tie the game. The final score was Southern University 28 and Texas Southern 21. Southern QB Glendon McDaniel completed 17/26 passes for 252 Yds and 3TD, RB Dominic Franklin rush for over 100 Yds and 1 TD. Texas Southern top passing leaders (WR) Ronnie Conley ran for 115 yds and Malik Webb 105 yds. Texas Southern came out to play this year. They have a new head coach
Clarence McKinney, that is taking the program in a new direction. He is bringing a more winning attitude and better players.
.
This year State Fair Showdown brought in more sponsors, more spectators , and as expected the Southern University Alumni, drew the largest crowded , as they showed support for their team.

Lone Star Sports, put on another great classic, I look forward to next year.
